Cancer is inescapable; most of us have seen or experienced it through family or friends. Cancer is also mysterious, in its causes and in the many forms it takes. Using information readily available from the American Cancer Society, I pieced together a more complete picture of 20 types of cancer, with short descriptions of their symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and risk factors. Of most value to me was the mapping of cancers to the parts of the body they affected; by name alone, many are difficult to understand.
